The Internet and other forms of information and communication technology (ICT) are redefining the nature of literacy. To become fully literate in today’s world, students must become proficient in the new literacies of ICT. Do content area teacher/educators have the responsibility to integrate these technologies into their literacy curricula?

Hello Dr. Glassett & class,

I have to ask a little favor of you all.

As Dr. Post has maybe told you, I was just released from Memorial Hospital with double-sided pneumonia. I got three problems: 1. My immune system is down to zero, so if anybody in the class has a cold or some other kind of infection, please please sit very far away from me, because my system could not deal with it.

2. I only weigh 43 kilos now and have to drink stupid meal replacement shakes and that kind of stuff in class, so I won't collapse. I know it's very impolite to eat in class, but I hope I can get a special permission.

3. I'm still an outpatient and need to do blood tests and the like. In case I have to miss a class, I hope there will be somebody who collects the handouts for me and lets me copy his or her notes (although I hope I will make it to every class...).

That's it! You don't need to be afraid, I'm not contagious.
I'm looking forward to the class.
